Learning the basics of the 'bone' in Woolpit, Suffolk, Alan left home at 18 and became a professional musician in H M Royal Marines and spent several years studying with the late Don Lusher and travelling the world. He left to study jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama gaining his Masters and is now settled and well established on the London scene. A versatile player Alan has considerable experience recording and playing live with artists such as Mcfly - (UK wonderland tour), Hope of the States, Estelle, X Factor, The Blockheads, Mika, Ford - Feel the Difference, The Four Tops, 425 (Hip Hop), Zarif, Chantz, The Bridge, and The Dualers including TV appearances on Record of the Year, Smash Hits Poll Winners, CD:UK, Paul O'Grady Show, and the National Lottery.

Alan’s jazz playing includes The Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Michael Garrick, John Taylor, The 606 Big Band, The Grand Union Orchestra, The Leviathan Orchestra, Combustible Alarms Big Band, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, the Young Guns Big Band, and NYJO. He also has show experience with Anything Goes, The Blues Brothers, Acorn Antiques, Elvis - American Triolgy, The Rat Pack's Back -in Casino Lisbon, The Rat Pack - live from Las Vegas, and is currently working on 'The Magic Of Motown'.....

Alan's writing and arrangments include an original score for musical play 'Room 304' (Edinburgh Festival), horn section writing for Hip Hop band '425' (CD pending) and arranged and directed 'Hark the Hearald Angels Sing' for oscar winning film 'Notes On A Scandal'.
