Alex Maynard is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Throughout his time there he was lead trumpet with the GSMD Big Band. Alex has also been guest Lead Trumpet with the RTE Orchestra, Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and continues as lead trumpet with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. He has recorded for Sony Computer Entertainment and various adverts on Channel 4 and ITV. Alex has played with artists such as Kubla Khan, Jane McDonald, Amy McDonald, Ultimate Earth Wind and Fire, King Salsa, Young Guns Big Band, Alpine Big Band, Steve Taylor Tribute to Buddy Rich, Trinity College of Music Big Band, as well as dep work on touring shows Fame and West Side Story.
