Andy McKay

Bass Trombone, Euphonium

Andy McKay is a graduate of Trinity College of Music, London, where he studied with Ian Davis, Andrew Fawbert and Roger Argente. He has extensive big band and musical theatre experience, having depped on the West End show Guys and Dolls, and the UK tours of Les Miserables and Acorn Antiques, as well as playing for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Jimmy Cannon Big Band, John Dankworth, Chris Smith and the String of Pearls, the Glenn Miller UK band, the Baker Benson Big Band, and the Fabulous Forties Swing Orchestra.

Andy has also played for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, the London Pops Orchestra and for the BBC film ‘Last of the Blonde Bombshells’. Andy also featured on the 2006 Waterson:Carthy tour, which included live BBC recordings as well as a large venue tour.

His education work includes freelance brass teaching, and a tour of South Africa as a member of Heritage Brass, an ensemble specialising in educational work. Andy is proud to play a Taylor-customised trombone!
