Dave Foster is an arranger and bass player whose musicianship and diligence has earned him the respect of colleagues and critics alike. Originally from Lichfield, Staffordshire, he moved to London in 1998, where he cut his teeth at the Guildhall School of Music and with an 8 year stint playing and arranging for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. The following years saw him becoming a much sought after musician, arranger and producer, collaborating with many top-flight artists.
Currently, Dave is splitting his time between being a highly successful Society Bandleader (with his group Swing City, for whom he manages, plays and arranges – www.swing-city.co.uk); working for the top British copying house Dakota Music (for whom he has worked on the orchestration and music preparation for major Hollywood blockbusters and all manner of pop and classical albums, as well as most of the West End musicals); and working as a freelance arranger and producer for jazz and pop artists. He still “keeps it real” by playing in various jazz ensembles and crossover projects.
