Freddie is a London-based jazz trumpeter, composer, arranger and teacher. Originally from Norwich, he recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with Gerard Presencer, Pat White, Mike Lovatt, Noel Langley, Martin Speake and Tim Garland. Freddie won the 2008 British Jazz Award for Rising Star, and plays regularly with the John Dankworth Orchestra, the Ronnie Scott's Big Band, the Ronnie Scott's All-Stars, the London Jazz Orchestra, the Andy Panayi Big Band, Gillespiana, Echoes of Ellington, and was recently a featured soloist with the BBC Big Band on Radio 2.
He has performed with many of the worlds biggest jazz and pop stars, including Marti Pellow, Noah and the Whale, Curtis Stigers, Jon Faddis, Joe Locke, Peter Erskine, Kenny Wheeler, Tim Garland, and Georgie Fame. Freddie appears around London with many jazz groups, including the Tom Cawley Quartet, Huw White's Neon Bedroom, Semta, BFG, Calum Gourlay Quintet, Symbiosis and Senza Shred. He also leads his own quartet, featuring Kit Downes (piano - Empirical/BBC Jazz Award Rising Star 2208), Calum Gourlay (bass - Tommy Smith/Yamaha Jazz Scholar) and James Maddren (drums - Gwilym Simcock).
