Jonny Bruce is a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and studied classical trumpet with Andy Everton and jazz trumpet with Steve Waterman.
He plays trumpet for the critically acclaimed group the Dave Stapleton Quintet (DSQ) alongside saxophonist Ben Waghorn. The group will soon be releasing its second album in 2007 following the successful When Life Was in Black and White album released in 2005 on the Red Eye Music Label. He also plays split Lead/Solo chair for the Wales Jazz Composers Orchestra.
Jonny works regularly on the European jazz festival scene, and is in demand as a strong lead player. He has played as a supporting act for Acoustic Ladyland and the Julian Siegel trio.
His session work has included recording for a variety of BBC and ITV television soundtracks, Rocket Goldstar, Lucky Soul and Alice Walker.
