Jonny Spall

Saxes (Sop, Alto, Tenor, Bari) Clarinet

Jonny Spall is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and is a versatile London-based jazz/session/freelance saxophonist/clarinetist. Performs in an eclectic mix of bands and styles ranging from groove through to jazz roots and pop/soul/funk.

Member of the Nostalgia 77 Octet (Tru Thoughts) and The Heritage Orchestra. Regular projects include 'Fiction' (with Ross Stanley, Chris Allard, Riaan Vosloo and Graham Fox). Jonny also performed alongside Stan Sulzmann in both his quintet and tentet and worked with the Michael Garrick Orchestra & London Jazz Orchestra.

Wider performing experiences include studying African music and culture in the Gambia, West Africa (2004). Has performed at many venues around the UK and abroad including the Jazz Cafe, Cargo, the Bulls Head, Hackney Empire, The Ram Jam, Concorde 2 and Komedia (Brighton), Bridgewater Hall, Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room, the Vortex, Ronnie Scott's, Smollenskys on the Strand.

Performed at the Big Chill Festival 2006, the 39th Montreux Jazz Festival (2005) and Glastonbury Festival (2005).
