Mike Lesirge has been a professional saxophonist since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music in 2004, where he studied with Jean Toussaint and Tim Garland and performed with Hermeto Pascoal, Django Bates, and Billy Cobham. He has since been a regular on the London music scene, performing with his own Quartet and playing and recording with some of London's top jazz musicians, as well as a huge variety of jazz, pop, funk and soul projects. His live and session credits include: Craig David, Jade Ewen, Zarif, Alice Russell, TM Juke, Lynval Golding (The Specials), Katrina and the Waves, Odyssey, Andreya Triana, Mozez, Aaron Jerome, The Dualers, Vula (Basement Jaxx), Amy Pearson, Tha 4orce, Will Collier Septet, Hundred Strong, Jamie Woon, Giom, Blu Mar Ten, Pama International, Jenny-Lynn Smith, Combustible Alarms Big Band, Hot Orange Big Band, The Glenn Miller Orchestra UK, Umlaut and Stitch and the Steve Taylor Big Band. He has recorded with producers Tommy D. (Kylie Minogue, Corinne Bailey Rae) Full Phatt Productions (Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Mutya Buena), Dave Brant (Liberty X) and Tim Baxter (Amy Pearson, Katherine McPhee).
Mike has performed at the O2 Arena, Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Kokos, The Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club, The Jazz Café, The Fairfield Halls, the 100 Club, the Vortex, Pizza Express Jazz Club, the 606 club, and Glastonbury Festival, Big Chill and Electric Picnic Festivals. He has recorded sessions for BBC Radio 1, 2 and 3 at Maida Vale studios, broadcast live from Abbey Road studios, appeared on-stage in several of London’s West End Theatres, and has performed on tour in Germany, France, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Russia and Argentina.
Mike is an extremely experienced performer on all saxophones (soprano, alto, tenor and baritone), and also plays flute, clarinet and keyboards to a professional standard. He is equally at home in all styles of music, and an excellent sight-reader and arranger.
