Paul Munday

Trumpet, Piccolo Trumpet, Flugel Horn, Cornet

Paul started to play brass instruments at the age of 6 in his local Salvation Army Band and entered the Royal College of Music as a scholar in 1999. He studied orchestral trumpet with Malcolm Smith and Paul Beniston and whilst there, he was principal trumpet of all of the RCM's main orchestra's and chamber ensembles. Paul graduated in July 2003 and is now working as a successful freelance trumpet player based in London.

Since leaving college, Paul’s flexibility has lead to found him working in a variety of different genres and styles. His show experience includes him performing for West End and UK touring productions of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Witches of Eastwick, Beauty & the Beast, La Cage Aux Folles, The King & I and Carousel whilst on the orchestral side, he has performed with the likes of The Philharmonia Orchestra and The National Symphony Orchestra.

Paul has performed extensively across the UK and Europe with his award winning brass dectet Brass10 and brass quintet Majestic Brass with whom he toured the UK in 2009 with UK indie band Maxïmo Park. Paul is also a founder member of the exciting new brass experience Bad Ass Brass.

Paul is heavily involved in music education having been a regular member of the 'Elastic Band' run by Kevin Hathway and the Philharmonia Orchestra for the past 7 years and he also runs education projects the Learning & Participation department at the Royal Albert Hall.
