Tom Richards is a Tenor Saxophonist/Composer living in London. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in the summer of 2004. He has experience both as a soloist and section player, and in the last five years has had the opportunity to work with many great artists in the pop and jazz worlds, including Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, Eric Clapton, Matthew Herbert's Big Band, and Laurence Cottle's Big Band. Tom is currently on tour with Jamie Cullum playing saxophones/keyboards/percussion and backing vocals.
As a composer, Tom's main project is his own 20-piece Jazz Orchestra (TRJO) that features some of the UK's best musicians and focuses on original music written by Tom and members of the Orchestra. The band's gigs have been really well received and the TRJO’s debut album is being recorded in the summer of 2006. Tom has also arranged and composed extensively for Jamie Cullum, NYJO, a number of big bands and provided some of the music for the musical ‘Annie Get Your Gun’ UK Tour.
